Russia stocks lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index down 1.90%

Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms , Power and Mining sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index lost 1.90%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Polyus PJSC (MCX: PLZL ), which rose 0.57% or 82.50 points to trade at 14,512.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Rosneft PJSC (MCX: ROSN ) added 0.25% or 1.20 points to end at 490.50 and GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX: AGRODR ) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 1,083.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were VK Company Ltd (MCX: VKCO ), which fell 6.57% or 18.20 points to trade at 258.80 at the close. ROSSETI PJSC (MCX: FEES ) unchanged 5.51% or 0.00 points to end at 0.07 and ADS Ozon Holdings PLC ORD SHS (MCX: OZONDR ) was down 4.91% or 141.00 points to 2,730.50.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 226 to 22 and 5 ended unchanged.

Shares in ROSSETI PJSC (MCX: FEES ) unchanged to 5-year lows; unchanged 5.51% or 0.00 to 0.07. Shares in GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX: AGRODR ) unchanged to 52-week lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to 1,083.80.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 0.60% to 46.99.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.26% or 6.86 to $2,665.36 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.70% or 1.84 to hit $69.94 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.45% or 1.76 to trade at $73.59 a barrel.

USD/RUB was down 1.41% to 105.01, while EUR/RUB fell 1.29% to 110.35.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 106.32.
