Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 1.16%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 1.16%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV: TLEVISACPO ), which rose 7.25% or 0.51 points to trade at 7.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV: GFNORTEO ) added 4.14% or 5.69 points to end at 142.99 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (BMV: OMAB ) was up 3.16% or 5.60 points to 182.74 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ELEKTRA ), which fell 4.34% or 14.35 points to trade at 316.00 at the close. GCC SAB de CV (BMV: GCC ) declined 3.07% or 5.72 points to end at 180.40 and Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV: ORBIA ) was down 2.41% or 0.35 points to 14.17.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 130 to 108 and 11 ended unchanged.

Shares in Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV: ORBIA ) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.41% or 0.35 to 14.17.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.28% or 7.56 to $2,647.14 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.74% or 0.55 to hit $73.41 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.32 to trade at $76.19 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 1.43% to 20.32, while EUR/MXN fell 0.65% to 21.12.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 108.07.
