Greece stocks lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 0.01%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms , Household and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite fell 0.01%.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Papoutsanis Industrial and Commercial of Consumer Goods SA (AT: PSALr ), which rose 4.60% or 0.11 points to trade at 2.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Thessaloniki Water and Sewage Co SA (AT: TWSr ) added 2.76% or 0.09 points to end at 3.35 and Bank of Cyprus Holdings PLC (AT: BOCHGRr ) was up 2.59% or 0.12 points to 4.75 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Jumbo SA (AT: BABr ), which fell 2.26% or 0.60 points to trade at 26.00 at the close. Interlife General Insurance Company SA (AT: INLIFr ) declined 2.10% or 0.10 points to end at 4.66 and Metlen Energy & Metals AE (AT: MYTr ) was down 2.06% or 0.72 points to 34.16.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 65 to 51 and 22 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.55% or 14.61 to $2,680.01 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $74.20 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.13 to trade at $76.92 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.39% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP rose 0.71% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.56% at 108.99.
