Russia stocks lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index down 1.95%

Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas , Mining and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index declined 1.95%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were AK ALROSA PJSC (MCX: ALRS ), which rose 0.22% or 0.12 points to trade at 54.95 at the close. Meanwhile, GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX: AGRODR ) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 1,083.80 and Polyus PJSC (MCX: PLZL ) was down 0.98% or 167.50 points to 16,912.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bank VTB PJSC (MCX: VTBR ), which fell 4.36% or 3.82 points to trade at 83.72 at the close. Surgutneftegas PJSC (MCX: SNGS ) declined 4.23% or 1.21 points to end at 27.30 and Novolipetsk Steel (MCX: NLMK ) was down 3.93% or 5.78 points to 141.38.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 210 to 38 and 6 ended unchanged.

Shares in GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX: AGRODR ) unchanged to 52-week lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to 1,083.80.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 0.14% to 35.60.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.18% or 32.99 to $2,773.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.06% or 1.54 to hit $73.12 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.88% or 1.46 to trade at $76.09 a barrel.

USD/RUB was down 0.68% to 97.37, while EUR/RUB fell 0.44% to 102.17.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 107.14.
