Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking , Construction and Travel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 1.76% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Cenergy Holdings SA (AT: CENEr ), which rose 5.03% or 0.45 points to trade at 9.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Metlen Energy & Metals AE (AT: MYTr ) added 4.87% or 1.70 points to end at 36.60 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT: EURBr ) was up 4.58% or 0.11 points to 2.61 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BriQ Properties REIC (AT: BRIQr ), which fell 1.69% or 0.04 points to trade at 2.32 at the close. Kri-Kri Milk (AT: KRIr ) declined 1.24% or 0.20 points to end at 15.90 and Dimand Societe Anonyme for Real Estate Constructions (AT: DIMANDr ) was down 0.96% or 0.08 points to 8.27.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 96 to 33 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT: EURBr ) rose to 5-year highs; up 4.58% or 0.11 to 2.61.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.25% or 7.39 to $2,927.99 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.62% or 2.47 to hit $65.79 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 3.07% or 2.18 to trade at $68.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.29% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP rose 0.70% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.10% at 104.52.
