Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.61%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.61%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV: ORBIA ), which rose 10.06% or 1.43 points to trade at 15.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Gruma SAB de CV (BMV: GRUMAB ) added 4.93% or 17.82 points to end at 379.16 and Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: GMEXICOB ) was up 4.03% or 3.96 points to 102.31 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV: LABB ), which fell 4.67% or 1.21 points to trade at 24.70 at the close. Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV: Q ) declined 3.27% or 6.08 points to end at 179.60 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (BMV: GFINBURO ) was down 2.98% or 1.42 points to 46.25.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 134 to 95 and 13 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.29% or 8.50 to $2,929.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.72% or 1.86 to hit $66.40 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.31% or 1.64 to trade at $69.40 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.89% to 20.40, while EUR/MXN rose 0.66% to 22.02.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.35% at 104.25.
