Russia stocks higher at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index up 0.83%

Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms , Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index gained 0.83%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were PhosAgro PJSC (MCX: PHOR ), which rose 0.80% or 54.00 points to trade at 6,798.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Unipro PJSC (MCX: UPRO ) added 0.54% or 0.01 points to end at 2.61 and PIK SHb PJSC (MCX: PIKK ) was up 0.41% or 2.70 points to 668.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were MMC NORILSK NICKEL PJSC (MCX: GMKN ), which fell 2.94% or 4.10 points to trade at 136.80 at the close. Bank VTB PJSC (MCX: VTBR ) declined 2.89% or 2.69 points to end at 90.49 and OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX: RUAL ) was down 2.83% or 1.18 points to 40.54.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 127 to 117 and 10 ended unchanged.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 7.08% to 53.72 a new 3-months high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.29% or 8.34 to $2,928.94 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.67% or 1.82 to hit $66.44 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.28% or 1.62 to trade at $69.42 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 0.74% to 90.40, while EUR/RUB rose 2.36% to 97.60.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.32% at 104.29.
