Portugal stocks higher at close of trade; PSI up 0.49%

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology , Industrials and Financials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI gained 0.49%.

The best performers of the session on the PSI were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI: MOTA ), which rose 12.14% or 0.37 points to trade at 3.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI: BCP ) added 3.33% or 0.02 points to end at 0.53 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI: CTT ) was up 1.90% or 0.13 points to 6.99 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were EDP Renovaveis (ELI: EDPR ), which fell 1.86% or 0.16 points to trade at 8.18 at the close. EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI: EDP ) declined 1.63% or 0.05 points to end at 3.02 and Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI: JMT ) was down 1.43% or 0.30 points to 20.62.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 17 to 9 and 5 ended unchanged.

Shares in EDP Renovaveis (ELI: EDPR ) fell to 5-year lows; falling 1.86% or 0.16 to 8.18.

Brent oil for May delivery was down 3.53% or 2.51 to $68.53 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 4.15% or 2.83 to hit $65.43 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 11.71 to trade at $2,932.31 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 1.46% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP rose 0.87% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.22% at 104.39.
