Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 3.55%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals , Industrials and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 3.55%, while the MDAX index climbed 6.05%, and the TecDAX index added 3.23%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR: HEIG ), which rose 17.52% or 24.85 points to trade at 166.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR: DBKGn ) added 12.36% or 2.39 points to end at 21.75 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR: CBKG ) was up 10.95% or 2.26 points to 22.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Vonovia SE (ETR: VNAn ), which fell 7.66% or 2.24 points to trade at 27.01 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR: DTEGn ) declined 3.41% or 1.20 points to end at 33.94 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR: SY1G ) was down 2.71% or 2.64 points to 94.62.

The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (ETR: KGX ) which rose 20.18% to 44.60, Bechtle AG (ETR: BC8G ) which was up 19.30% to settle at 39.06 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (ETR: GBFG ) which gained 17.98% to close at 70.20.

The worst performers were LEG Immobilien AG (ETR: LEGn ) which was down 5.27% to 73.72 in late trade, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR: TEGG ) which lost 5.19% to settle at 13.16 and Deutsche Wohnen AG (ETR: DWNG ) which was down 4.94% to 22.15 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Bechtle AG (ETR: BC8G ) which rose 19.30% to 39.06, Kontron AG (ETR: KTN ) which was up 16.26% to settle at 23.88 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR: COKG ) which gained 14.64% to close at 27.88.

The worst performers were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR: DTEGn ) which was down 3.41% to 33.94 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR: COP1n ) which unchanged 0.00% to settle at 22.50 and Qiagen NV (ETR: QIA ) which was up 0.03% to 35.88 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 419 to 216 and 25 ended unchanged.

Shares in Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR: HEIG ) rose to all time highs; up 17.52% or 24.85 to 166.65. Shares in Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR: DBKGn ) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 12.36% or 2.39 to 21.75. Shares in Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR: CBKG ) rose to 5-year highs; up 10.95% or 2.26 to 22.90. Shares in Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR: SY1G ) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.71% or 2.64 to 94.62. Shares in Bilfinger SE O.N. (ETR: GBFG ) rose to 5-year highs; up 17.98% or 10.70 to 70.20. Shares in Kontron AG (ETR: KTN ) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 16.26% or 3.34 to 23.88.

The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 16.31% to 22.72 a new 6-months high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.39% or 11.41 to $2,932.01 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 4.15% or 2.83 to hit $65.43 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 3.51% or 2.49 to trade at $68.55 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.42% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.20% at 104.42.
