France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.56%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials , Technology and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.56%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.68%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ), which rose 10.47% or 2.86 points to trade at 30.17 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA: SGOB ) added 8.84% or 8.17 points to end at 100.55 and Thales (EPA: TCFP ) was up 7.63% or 17.40 points to 245.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA: URW ), which fell 2.65% or 2.16 points to trade at 79.34 at the close. Danone SA (EPA: DANO ) declined 2.21% or 1.60 points to end at 70.74 and Vivendi SA (EPA: VIV ) was down 2.02% or 0.06 points to 2.81.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA: ETL ) which rose 119.75% to 7.85, Solutions 30 SE (EPA: S30 ) which was up 30.35% to settle at 1.66 and Atos SE (EPA: ATOS ) which unchanged 23.53% to close at 0.00.

The worst performers were Argan (EPA: ARGAN ) which was down 2.97% to 62.00 in late trade, Getlink SE (EPA: GETP ) which lost 2.70% to settle at 15.68 and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA: URW ) which was down 2.65% to 79.34 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 317 to 183 and 78 ended unchanged.

Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ) rose to 52-week highs; rising 10.47% or 2.86 to 30.17. Shares in Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA: SGOB ) rose to all time highs; up 8.84% or 8.17 to 100.55. Shares in Thales (EPA: TCFP ) rose to all time highs; up 7.63% or 17.40 to 245.40. Shares in Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA: ETL ) rose to 52-week highs; rising 119.75% or 4.28 to 7.85.

The CAC 40 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.39% or 11.39 to $2,931.99 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 4.25% or 2.90 to hit $65.36 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 3.59% or 2.55 to trade at $68.49 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.44% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.22% at 104.40.
