India stocks mixed at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.03%

Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Saturday, as gains in the Capital Goods , Metals and IT sectors led shares higher while losses in the Consumer Durables , Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.01%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Reliance Industries Ltd (NSE: RELI ), which rose 3.32% or 40.20 points to trade at 1,249.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Nestle India Ltd (NSE: NEST ) added 1.69% or 37.25 points to end at 2,238.45 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NSE: BAJA ) was up 1.51% or 112.50 points to 7,574.75 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE: INBK ), which fell 3.60% or 34.95 points to trade at 936.75 at the close. NTPC Ltd (NSE: NTPC ) declined 2.47% or 8.35 points to end at 329.55 and Shriram Finance Ltd. (NSE: SHMF ) was down 2.10% or 13.50 points to 630.85.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO: RELI ) which rose 3.18% to 1,249.10, Nestle India Ltd (BO: NEST ) which was up 1.62% to settle at 2,237.30 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO: TAMO ) which gained 1.36% to close at 648.45.

The worst performers were Zomato Ltd (BO: ZOMT ) which was down 3.82% to 216.80 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO: INBK ) which lost 3.53% to settle at 936.80 and NTPC Ltd (BO: NTPC ) which was down 2.49% to 329.35 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 16 to 12; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced.

The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.89% to 13.47.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.43% or 12.50 to $2,914.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.02% or 0.68 to hit $67.04 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 0.90 to trade at $70.36 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.10% to 87.10, while EUR/INR rose 0.55% to 94.35.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 103.81.
