Russia stocks lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index down 1.35%

Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Power , Telecoms and Mining sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index lost 1.35%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX: RUAL ), which rose 2.01% or 0.83 points to trade at 42.17 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeroflot PJSC (MCX: AFLT ) added 1.73% or 1.28 points to end at 75.10 and NOVATEK PJSC (MCX: NVTK ) was up 1.37% or 17.40 points to 1,287.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Unipro PJSC (MCX: UPRO ), which fell 5.44% or 0.12 points to trade at 2.10 at the close. Rostelekom PJSC (MCX: RTKM ) declined 2.08% or 1.51 points to end at 71.04 and Magnitogorskiy Metallurgicheskiy Kombinat PAO (MCX: MAGN ) was down 2.04% or 0.84 points to 40.07.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 193 to 50 and 10 ended unchanged.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 10.98% to 55.38 a new 3-months high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.25% or 7.29 to $2,919.31 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.07% or 0.71 to hit $67.07 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.31% or 0.91 to trade at $70.37 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 1.12% to 90.00, while EUR/RUB rose 1.72% to 97.61.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 103.77.
