Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.18%

Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Energy , Gold and Resources sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.18%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Nuix Ltd (ASX: NXL ), which rose 6.01% or 0.20 points to trade at 3.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Polynovo Ltd (ASX: PNV ) added 4.58% or 0.06 points to end at 1.26 and Beach Energy Ltd (ASX: BPT ) was up 4.09% or 0.06 points to 1.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were St Barbara Ltd (ASX: SBM ), which fell 4.35% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.22 at the close. Insignia Financial Ltd (ASX: IFL ) declined 4.27% or 0.20 points to end at 4.48 and Super Retail Group Ltd (ASX: SUL ) was down 3.38% or 0.47 points to 13.31.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 533 to 532 and 461 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 0.77% to 14.32 a new 6-months high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.01% or 0.42 to $2,914.52 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.75% or 0.50 to hit $66.54 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.47 to trade at $69.89 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 0.63, while AUD/JPY fell 0.09% to 93.25.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 103.84.
