Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms , Industrials and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 1.14% to hit a new 3-months low, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.76%, and the NASDAQ Composite index fell 0.18%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Boeing Co (NYSE: BA ), which rose 3.99% or 5.91 points to trade at 154.06 at the close. Meanwhile, NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA ) added 1.66% or 1.78 points to end at 108.76 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE: CRM ) was up 1.52% or 4.15 points to 277.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE: VZ ), which fell 6.58% or 3.06 points to trade at 43.43 at the close. Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS ) declined 5.03% or 5.18 points to end at 97.90 and McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE: MCD ) was down 3.31% or 10.49 points to 306.76.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ: SMCI ) which rose 10.68% to 40.84, Southwest Airlines Company (NYSE: LUV ) which was up 8.34% to settle at 30.53 and CrowdStrike Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: CRWD ) which gained 6.76% to close at 329.75.

The worst performers were Teradyne Inc (NASDAQ: TER ) which was down 17.05% to 87.07 in late trade, Amentum Holdings LLC (NYSE: AMTM ) which lost 8.19% to settle at 17.04 and Expedia Inc (NASDAQ: EXPE ) which was down 7.28% to 163.75 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Raytech Holding Ltd (NASDAQ: RAY ) which rose 94.25% to 1.69, 2Seventy Bio Inc (NASDAQ: TSVT ) which was up 76.79% to settle at 4.95 and Hesai Group ADR (NASDAQ: HSAI ) which gained 50.41% to close at 24.08.

The worst performers were Wellchange Holdings Co Ltd (NASDAQ: WCT ) which was down 71.52% to 0.71 in late trade, Arvinas Inc (NASDAQ: ARVN ) which lost 52.73% to settle at 8.30 and LZ Technology Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ: LZMH ) which was down 48.91% to 8.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1604 to 1166 and 82 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1633 rose and 1628 declined, while 153 ended unchanged.

Shares in Teradyne Inc (NASDAQ: TER ) fell to 52-week lows; down 17.05% or 17.90 to 87.07. Shares in Amentum Holdings LLC (NYSE: AMTM ) fell to all time lows; falling 8.19% or 1.52 to 17.04. Shares in Wellchange Holdings Co Ltd (NASDAQ: WCT ) fell to all time lows; falling 71.52% or 1.80 to 0.71. Shares in Arvinas Inc (NASDAQ: ARVN ) fell to all time lows; falling 52.73% or 9.26 to 8.30. Shares in Hesai Group ADR (NASDAQ: HSAI ) rose to all time highs; gaining 50.41% or 8.07 to 24.08.

The CBOE Volatility Index , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.37% to 26.92.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.81% or 23.59 to $2,922.99 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.88% or 0.58 to hit $66.61 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.62 to trade at $69.90 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.72% to 1.09, while USD/JPY rose 0.39% to 147.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 103.41.
