Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications , Travel & Leisure and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.25% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Persimmon PLC (LON: PSN ), which rose 5.47% or 64.00 points to trade at 1,234.50 at the close. Meanwhile, London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON: LSEG ) added 3.37% or 360.00 points to end at 11,055.00 and Vistry Group PLC (LON: VTYV ) was up 2.65% or 16.00 points to 620.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON: ICAG ), which fell 6.12% or 19.00 points to trade at 291.50 at the close. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON: RTO ) declined 4.55% or 15.40 points to end at 323.40 and Intertek Group PLC (LON: ITRK ) was down 4.06% or 210.00 points to 4,960.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1260 to 584 and 540 ended unchanged.
Shares in Rentokil Initial PLC (LON: RTO ) fell to 5-year lows; down 4.55% or 15.40 to 323.40.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.89% or 25.70 to $2,925.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.36% or 0.24 to hit $66.27 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.33 to trade at $69.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.46% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.43% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.63% at 103.30.
