Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.31%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 0.31%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (BMV: BOLSAA ), which rose 5.31% or 1.88 points to trade at 37.31 at the close. Meanwhile, Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV: PEOLES ) added 4.59% or 17.43 points to end at 397.00 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (BMV: GFINBURO ) was up 2.70% or 1.23 points to 46.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV: TLEVISACPO ), which fell 5.75% or 0.43 points to trade at 7.05 at the close. Becle SA (BMV: CUERVO ) declined 5.47% or 1.01 points to end at 17.44 and Wal Mart de Mexico SAB de CV (BMV: WALMEX ) was down 2.60% or 1.41 points to 52.92.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 153 to 88 and 12 ended unchanged.

Shares in Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV: PEOLES ) rose to 5-year highs; up 4.59% or 17.43 to 397.00.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.85% or 54.45 to $3,001.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.36% or 0.92 to hit $66.76 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.09 to trade at $70.16 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.05% to 20.09, while EUR/MXN rose 0.07% to 21.81.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 103.76.
