Russia stocks lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index down 2.05%

Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining , Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index declined 2.05%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin (MCX: TATN ), which rose 2.29% or 15.90 points to trade at 710.00 at the close. Meanwhile, ROSSETI PJSC (MCX: FEES ) unchanged 2.12% or 0.00 points to end at 0.08 and Mobil’nye Telesistemy PJSC (MCX: MTSS ) was up 1.81% or 4.35 points to 244.70 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were MMC NORILSK NICKEL PJSC (MCX: GMKN ), which fell 1.61% or 2.20 points to trade at 131.80 at the close. Moskovskaya Birzha PJSC (MCX: MOEX ) declined 1.43% or 3.02 points to end at 208.58 and T Tekhnologii MKPAO (MCX: T ) was down 1.21% or 41.20 points to 3,376.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 194 to 50 and 9 ended unchanged.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 2.35% to 50.09.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.85% or 54.45 to $3,001.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.36% or 0.92 to hit $66.76 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.10 to trade at $70.17 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 0.01% to 86.26, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 93.62.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 103.76.
