Greece stocks higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 1.33%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking , Construction and Travel sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 1.33% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Gr Sarantis SA (AT: SRSr ), which rose 4.40% or 0.56 points to trade at 13.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Holding Company ADMIE IPTO SA (AT: ADMr ) added 4.04% or 0.11 points to end at 2.70 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT: BOPr ) was up 3.87% or 0.19 points to 5.18 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Ekter (AT: EKTr ), which fell 2.16% or 0.05 points to trade at 2.04 at the close. Cenergy Holdings SA (AT: CENEr ) declined 0.75% or 0.07 points to end at 9.27 and Crete Plastics SA (AT: PLAKR ) was down 0.67% or 0.10 points to 14.90.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 90 to 32 and 21 ended unchanged.

Shares in Gr Sarantis SA (AT: SRSr ) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 4.40% or 0.56 to 13.30. Shares in Piraeus Bank SA (AT: BOPr ) rose to 3-years highs; rising 3.87% or 0.19 to 5.18.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.11% or 3.39 to $2,994.69 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.74% or 0.49 to hit $67.04 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.48 to trade at $70.36 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.44% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 103.79.
