Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms , Industrials and Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (TSX: PBH ), which rose 4.61% or 3.47 points to trade at 78.72 at the close. Meanwhile, Cargojet Inc (TSX: CJT ) added 3.93% or 3.40 points to end at 89.89 and Shopify Inc (TSX: SHOP ) was up 2.64% or 3.85 points to 149.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Telus Corp (TSX: T ), which fell 4.72% or 0.99 points to trade at 19.99 at the close. Orla Mining Ltd (TSX: OLA ) declined 4.58% or 0.61 points to end at 12.71 and Capstone Mining Corp (TSX: CS ) was down 3.82% or 0.34 points to 8.57.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 536 to 336 and 115 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 6.16% to 14.33.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.49% or 14.96 to $3,028.84 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.31% or 0.21 to hit $68.28 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.14 to trade at $72.14 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 0.70, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.24% to 0.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 103.79.
