– U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts , General Industrial and Mobile Telecommunications sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the United Kingdom 100 rose 0.02%.

The best performers of the session on the United Kingdom 100 were Smiths Group PLC (LON: SMIN ), which rose 10.45% or 159.00 points to trade at 1,681.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON: FLTRF ) added 6.69% or 1,290.00 points to end at 20,560.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON: VOD ) was up 3.04% or 2.04 points to 69.06 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON: ICGIN ), which fell 7.23% or 162.00 points to trade at 2,078.00 at the close. DCC plc (LON: DCC ) declined 3.79% or 215.00 points to end at 5,455.00 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON: CTEC ) was down 3.03% or 8.00 points to 256.40.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1138 to 647 and 671 ended unchanged.

Shares in Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON: FLTRF ) rose to all time highs; rising 6.69% or 1,290.00 to 20,560.00.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.67% or 17.50 to $2,588.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.43% or 0.29 to hit $68.41 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.34 to trade at $72.23 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 106.33.
